Bright, fun, and simple. That was the name of the game when Matt Robinson, of 3f2, and I were thinking when we sat down to design this. This year's colors are a bright combination of CMYK, a shout0-out to printers all around. Everything is easy to get to and opens up the same window. This great design proves that you don't have to have a lot of content to make a striking website.

Just launched today, suzannepeters.com. This was my first WordPress project and having worked with a lot of other open source projects out there, this was very solid in my opinion. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to blog and blog efficiently.

Spent some time working on the layout for Pyramid Skate and Screen today. It is going to be a simple 2 or 3 page website, for a good friend of mine, Eric Nelson. Pyramid Skate and Screen is located in Post Falls, Idaho, primarily he does screen printing, embroidery, and other small business needs. He also supports his long time love by having an indoor skate park. I'll post links in the next couple weeks to show a finished product.

The first question I always get when helping my clients establish a new website is "what else do I need?" I am going to hopefully take care of a lot of those noob questions and help you make your first step into the world wide web.
Register a domain name
The first thing you need is a domain name. Now, this may seem like it's the easy part but, this is a critical part of the process, often times there needs to be a lot of thought process in coming up with the perfect domain. It may not be as easy as using your business name. The most important thing that I always try to remind my clients is that domain names are cheap and you can never have to many.

Recently I was looking at a webpage and noticed that it would load text, and before the page was loaded, as the final pieces of javascript were being loaded I noticed all the titles seemed to change to a font. I thought wow! They are taking plain text and having it replaced, with what I assumed javascript, with images making the titles into a font.
You may ask, what does this mean? So what I see that all the time? No, you probably haven't, see usually the designer of the website has to pre-generate images for titles like that, now if that title has to change its not a matter of just jumping in the code and changing it, you now have to open photoshop, find the text, re-type, save as an image, upload, and re-adjust your source code as needed. This presents a real problem with text that is generated from a database, like for instance from a content management system.
